Goochland Presbyterian Church is the newest church plant in the James River Presbytery, preparing to launch public worship on Easter Sunday, April 20th. Rooted in a vision to see the Gospel take hold in Goochland, the church has already begun gathering a core group through preview services and is steadily building momentum. This launch marks an important step in our broader mission to see new, healthy churches take root across Central Virginia.
Goochland Presbyterian Church is preparing to launch public worship on Easter Sunday, April 20th. In the lead-up, we’ve held five preview services with our core group and friends, drawing 30–50 people each time. These gatherings have been a major step toward building a gospel-centered worshiping community in Goochland. Our main goal is to see people come to know Jesus, and we’re encouraged by the early response and momentum.
As a new church plant, everything is in development. Over the next 6–12 months, we plan to establish regular weekly worship, begin ministries for children and families, build leadership and volunteer teams, and grow our outreach. We’re grateful for the Presbytery’s support, as well as churches and individuals all around RVA and would love continued partnership through prayer, giving, and encouragement. With our growth, our prayer and financial needs will also increase as we secure space, cover ministry expenses, and work toward part-time staffing.
Please pray for: (1) sustainable service—some volunteers are already stretched thin; (2) leadership development—we need elders and deacons; and (3) conversions—we long to see people come to faith in Jesus.
